A beautiful antique late Victorian crescent moon brooch (Circa 1900) modelled in 18ct gold and lined with lustrous pearls and twinkling diamonds that graduate in size from each tip.
Moon images became popular jewellery motifs during the late 19th Century as there was an increased interest in astronomy. Crescent moons were also a symbol of the feminine moon goddess and represented change and female empowerment in the Victorian Era.
It’s a wonderful antique treasure that has remained in pristine condition and will look wonderful pinned to a lapel.
